TNI, Police Securing Election Dispute Hearing in MK Unarmed

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police (Polri) held a security ceremony before the first hearing of the presidential election dispute in Constitutional Court (MK) taken place. The personnel was ordered to not using firearms during the security measure.
Since 7 a.m. Jakarta time, the joint officers stood guard in front of MK building, Jalan Merdeka Barat. Central Jakarta Resort Police Chief Sr. Comr. Harry Kurniawan and Military District Commander Lieut. Wahyu Yudhayana led the ceremony.
“Personnel of TNI-Polri who are securing [the election dispute] are not using firearms,” said Harry in the location, Friday, June 14.
He reminded all security personnel to follow the standard operational procedure (SOP) and regulations. “Front areas of MK has been sterilized and secured.” Concrete barriers have been placed around the building as well as barbed wire fences along the gate.
The first election dispute hearing is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 14, at 09:00 a.m. Jakarta time, at the plenary meeting room, 2nd floor of MK building.
