TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu voiced his views upon the suspect naming of retired Metro Jaya Police Chief Comm. Gen. M. Sofyan Jacob for alleged treason together with BPN (Prabowo’s campaign team) spokesman Eggi Sudjana.
“This is a lawful country, the law is the highest commander that must be obeyed by everyone,” said Ryamizard in his visit to Ahmad Syafii Maarif’s house in Yogyakarta earlier this morning, June 11.
In his statement, the defense minister asserted that anyone must obey the country’s law even if that includes members of the police institution, military, or the general public.
“Even an Ulema must obey the law if we intend to elevate the country,” he said.
Previously reported, Metro Jaya Police spokesman Sr. Commissioner Argo Yuwono confirmed on June 10 that Sofyan Jacob has been named as a suspect of attempted treason, which is a case handed over from Police’s criminal investigation agency (Bareskrim).
However, Argo was not too keen on sharing the details of the individual filing the police report against Sofyan Jacob neither did he reveal the details of the case incriminating the former police chief.
