TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air confirmed reports that the airline requested for a delay in paying service fees to Angkasa Pura I (AP1). The management is asking to postpone the payment for the first quarter of this year.
"The delay if for payments charged in January, February, and March of 2019," Lion Air Group's spokesman Danang Mandala Prihantoro told Tempo, Monday.
According to the airline, the company is under financial pressure since last year, with revenues that did not meet targets due to low sales prices and increasing costs.
Danang said Lion has sent an official letter to AP1, which also comprises of a request for Q1's payment terms. He added that the group will pay the money they owe in April on normal schemes; meaning there would be no more delay request for payments in following months.
Angkasa Pura I is still crosschecking the request and have not issued comments on the matter. Tempo's sources at the company said that the state's airport operator has received the letter.
