TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jokowi-Ma’ruf campaign team deputy head, Arsul Sani, said some 20-30 advocates would be involved in trials regarding the 2019 presidential election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK).
“Around 20 to 30 people. They were selected from hundreds. Some of them are professional attorneys, while others are advocates from the coalition of parties,” said Arsul at the MK building in Jakarta, Monday, May 27.
Arsul explained many advocates were willing to become the lawyers representing Jokowi-Ma’ruf, however, due to small trial rooms, they must be selected.
Arsul, who is also an advocate, will only assist the legal team during trials because the Law on Advocate and the MD3 Law prohibit members of the House of Representatives from being lawyers except for the House’s interest.

The legal team, spearheaded by constitutional law expert Yusril Ihza Mahendra, will comprise senior advocates including Luhut Pangaribuan and Teguh Samudra and advocates from political parties, namely Taufik Basari from NasDem, Dini Purwono from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Ade Irfan Pulungan from PPP, as well as Nelson Simanjuntak and former commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) Juri Ardiantoro.
Meanwhile, the the Prabowo-Sandiaga camp will be supported by 8 lawyers. They are Bambang Widjojanto as the team leader, Denny Indrayana, Teuku Nasrullah, Luthfi Yazid, Iwan Satriawan, Iskandar Sonhadji, Dorel Amir, and Zulfadli.
"Usually, only some people work in a large team and the coordination will be harder. So [our team] is small but effective," said Denny when met in Jakarta, Saturday, May 25.
