TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) President Director Edi Sukmoro introduced the company’s latest sleeper train cars known as the Luxury 2 which are coupled with the KA Argo Lawu train.
“The average occupancy of the Argo Bromo Anggrek Luxury train, serving the Gambir to Surabaya Pasar Turi route reached 108 percent,” said Edi Sukmoro at Jakarta’s Gambir Station on Sunday, May 26.
The Luxury 2 carriages are coupled into four trains serving two-way trips that comprise of KA Argo Lawu (Gambir-Solo Balapan); KA Argo Dwipangga (Gambir-Solo Balapan); KA Taksaka (Gambir – Yogyakarta); and KA Gajayana (Gambir-Malang).
Similar to its first generation of luxury carriages, Edi said that the exclusive services provided in these sleeper trains match those of an airplane’s business class. Features in the trains include electric seats that can be laid down 140 degrees, 180-degree rotatable seats, USB charging power sources, and many features that were in the initial version.
Passengers of the Luxury 2 will be served meals, beverages, and desserts throughout their trip apart from its minibar that offers snacks and drinks
PT KAI says that one attendant will be tasked at every Luxury 2 carriages.
