Prabowo Campaigner Says His Arrest for Treason Charges Unfair

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police arrested Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno's campaign team member Lieus Sungkharisma this morning, May 20. He was charged with allegations of attempting treason.

Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Comr. Argo Yuwono, confirmed the report.

Lieus arrived at the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) at around 10:13 a.m. escorted by several investigators.

Hands cuffed, Lieus expressed his discontent as he was being taken into the building.

He claimed to be confused when he was arrested on charges of treason. "They just took my hand and dragged me. This is unfair," said Lieus. "What is this accusation of treason?"

Lieus was reported to the Bareskrim by Eman Soleman on suspicions of spreading hoaxes and attempting treason on May 7, 2019. The report was then handed over to the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

In the report, Eman included a USB flash disk as evidence. The USB storage holds a video of Lieus Sungkharisma making the alleged false statements.
