TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Special Counter-Terrorism Detachment 88 (Densus) on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, reportedly arrested EY and YM for their involvement in the Jaringan Ansharut Daulah (JAD) terrorist group in Bekasi.
The two suspected terrorists were arrested in two separate locations in Bekasi on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
"EY is a JAD Bekasi leader who replaces a figure that was arrested earlier last year," said Police Spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo in a written statement on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
According to the police, EY is the major funder for the JAD group in Lampung that was sourced from profits made from sales of his mobile phone store. He is also strongly believed to have trained two terrorists on how to construct explosives.
During the arrest, Densus 88 confiscated pieces of evidence in the form of a laptop, hard disk, several notes, and tools for an explosive's remote detonator.
The JAD Bekasi group led by EY is believed to have collaborated with JAD Lampung upon future attacks on the police institution and take the opportunity of the "people power" momentum.
