TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Commission (KPU) is currently confirming the rumor of an alleged electoral fraud that happened in Malaysia. The viral video circulating the internet suggests that the voting ballots were already punctured.
KPU is in contacts with the working group (Pokja) of the Overseas Elections Committee (Panitia Pemilihan Luar Negeri - PPLN) for further developments.
"The Pokja PPLN is confirming it as we speak, whether the news is true or not, where it took place, and what actually happened," said KPU Commissioner Ilham Saputra on Thursday, April 11, 2019.
Ilham stated that the KPU is trying to discover out the location where the unconfirmed electoral fraud happened. "The video does not show the perpetrators," Ilham said.
Ilham also said that the KPU is still unaware of whether the incident had already been reported by the PPLN to the Malaysian elections supervisory agency.
