TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Constitutional Court (MK) chief justice Mahfud MD said that he had warned PPP chairman Muhammad Romahurmuziy or Romy regarding the recent case incriminating the latter. Romy is arrested in KPK sting operation over a bribery allegation.
According to Mahfud, the corruption eradication commission or KPK had sensed Romy's act and Mahfud had warned Romy about it since last year. However, Romahurmuziy ignored the warning.
Mahfud also mentioned about the matter on his Twitter account. "As I told you at that night in Darmawangsa Hotel: everything is [a] matter of time," he tweeted following Romy's arrest.
Romahurmuziy was arrested at a hotel in Sidoarjo, East Java on Friday, March 15. The anti-graft agency KPK has named Romy as a suspect in a bribery case at the Religious Affairs Ministry's higher-ups recruitment process.
Mahfud said that Romahurmuziy's arrest was not related to the presidency of both Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto.
"This is law, there is no political relation," he said on the sidelines of his activity in Semarang University on Saturday, March 16.
He viewed that KPK had conducted its duty properly, so there is no need to make speculation if there is a political agenda. "It is impossible that Pak Prabowo or Pak Jokowi was behind this. Do not associate it with the presidential election," Mahfud remarked, asserting that the law must be enforced.
