TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In front the audience composed of entrepreneurs at the Jakarta Taxation Supervisory Committee (KPP), Finance Minister Sri Mulyani explained the significant role of taxpayers in supporting Indonesia’s economic growth.
“Creating a synergy between the government and the business world is the only way to make Indonesia competitive and productive,” said Sri Mulyani on Wednesday, March 13, while the Directorate General of Taxation awarded major taxpayers listed at the KPP.
She argues that this type of synergy is also greatly beneficial for people’s prevalent welfare.
Furthermore, Sri Mulyani said that tax payment at the specific Kanwil DJP have reached 31 percent of its total tax income, which she said would be utilized for the country’s development.
“We grew 5.17 percent,” said the Finance Minister.
Sri Mulyani explained that the tax income is used to stimulate the country’s economy such as the tax from 2015 to 2018 that was used to build 41,000 meters of public bridges and roads, 782 kilometers of toll roads, and 500 hectares of irrigated rice field network. She also said that the LRT and MRT projects currently constructed in the Greater Jakarta area are funded by the tax from that period.
