Nyepi Day; Bali Port Closed until Friday Morning

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian ferry boat company, Angkutan Sungai Danau dan Penyeberangan (ASDP) Indonesia Ferry, temporarily stop its operation from and to Gilimanuk, Bali, from Ketapang, Banyuwangi due to the Day of Silence or Nyepi in Bali, for 24 hours.
ASDP Indonesia Ferry Corporate Secretary, Imelda Alini, said the last boat departing from Ketapang Port left on Wednesday at 23:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), while the last departure from Gilimanuk Port was at 05:50 Central Indonesia Time (WITA) on Thursday, March 7.
“The temporary closure is to respect the catur brata Nyepi ritual of the Hindu community in Bali today,” Imelda said in a written statement received this morning, March 7.

The Bali Governor released an official issuance regarding the matter. Besides Banyuwangi, the ferriage from and to Lombok is also closed for 24 hours.
The last departure from Lembar Port to Padangbai was scheduled at 19:30 Central Indonesia Time (WITA), last night, while the final departure from Padangbai to Lembar was at 03:00 WITA today.
The shipping activity will return to normal after the Nyepi Day, on Friday morning, March 8. Boats from Ketapang will start its operation at 05:00 (WIB) or 06:00 WITA. The operation hour from Gilimanuk Port, Bali, will be adjusted to the applicable schedule; above 06:00 WITA.
Meanwhile, the first departure from Lembar Port is scheduled at 04:30 WITA, and from Padangbai Port at 09:00 WITA.
