Jokowi Team Identifies 13 Regions Severely Exposed to Hoax

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Campaign Team of Jokowi - Ma'ruf has identified thirteen Indonesian provinces that are at high risk of exposure to hoax news.
The team member Hendrasmo outlined the regions, namely Aceh, West Sumatera, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatera, Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, Gorontalo, and North Maluku.
“We also find six regions that prone to hoaxes, including North Sumatra, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi,” Hendrasmo added at Cemara Campaign Post, Jakarta, Thursday, February 7.

The pattern of disinformation was spread to besmirch the incumbent candidate. For example, a massive spread of lies via various channels and endorsers that was frequently run.
Hendrasmo mentioned the hoaxes often beset Jokowi - Ma'ruf pair were the extinct Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), ulema criminalization, Chinese foreign workers, unemployment, commodity price hike, and the establishment of the election.
In addition, Golkar Party’s coordinator for community unit, Tuan Guru Bajang Zainul Majdi or TGB, said that hoaxes about religious sentiment which aimed at playing one against other people occurred in several regions.
“The identification has been done and will be run in several areas of Central Java, West Java, West Kalimantan, Yogyakarta, North Sumatra, and Jakarta. We will stem these hoaxes and deal with it because it potentially disunites the community and the nation,” said TGB.
