BTP Cancels Talk Show on Metro TV Tonight

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (BTP), known as Ahok, has canceled his plan in attending a talk show invitation at Metro TV tonight, Jan. 26.
Metro TV public relation official Henny Puspitasari said Ahok’s side had requested to the cancelation. “This is due to his (BTP's) busy schedule,” she said to Tempo, Saturday, Jan. 26.
According to Henny, the former Jakarta governor had arranged several agenda with his family and relatives after the release from his jail sentence.
BTP was initially scheduled to attend the talk show on Saturday, at 19:05 Jakarta time. The program was planned to be hosted by Metro TV editor in chief Don Bosco Selamun.
The talk show program dubbed “Exclusive Interview with BTP” would talk about Ahok’s stories during his imprisonment at Mako Brimob Kelapa Dua, Depok. He was sentenced to two years jail time over religious blasphemy charge. The 60-minute program would be the first media appearance for Ahok or BTP, as he intended to be called, after the jail sentence.
Henny said the talk show program would be rescheduled yet she did not mention any specific time. “The schedule would be set later,” she said.
BTP’s lawyer Teguh Samudra told Tempo today that his client Ahok planned to visit his family in East Belitung. However, he did not give detail on when will Ahok leave and return to the capital.
