Agung explained the CVR was found at a depth of eight meters under the seafloor. The depth of the seafloor itself reaches 30 meters. At present, the team is communicating the discovery news of CVR to the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT).
“We first coordinate it with the KNKT on where the CVR will be brought to,” Agung noted.
The Lion Air airplane with a tail number JT 610 crashed into the waters of Tanjung Karawang on Monday, October 29, 2018. The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft went off the radar at 06:32 a.m. or just 12 minutes after it took off from Soekarno-Hatta international airport.
Meanwhile, the Flight Data Recorder (FDR), the other part of the Lion Air airplane’s black box, had been found on Thursday, November 1, 2018. The FDR device records information about the speed, direction, and altitude of the plane, while the CVR device records communication between pilot and airport’s air traffic controller (ATC), co-pilot, and other sounds in the cockpit.
