Jakarta: BPJS Patients Still Treated, Referred to Other Hospitals

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency asserted that patients of the Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) would continue to receive treatment despite the temporary contract termination between BPJS and three regional hospitals (RSUD).

“Patients in emergency rooms are not rejected, they are still being treated, either using BPJS or not,” said the acting head of the Jakarta Health Agency, Khafifah Any, in Jakarta, Monday, January 7.

Those outpatients who have been referred to the three hospitals were still being treated, and their medical treatment was not stopped. “Outpatients who are being treated there and asked to stay or operation, we refer them to other hospitals,” she added.

Khafifah explained two RSUD (Jati Padang and Kebayoran Lama) had cooperated with BPJS Kesehatan before December 2018, but the ties were hindered by accreditation issues.

The Jakarta Health Agency then issued a letter to conduct the accreditation in 2019 and the Health Ministry released a follow-up recommendation approving of both regional hospitals. The RSUD Cipayung, however, still awaits the completion of its credential.
