TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin wished a merry Christmas for Christians across Indonesia. During this moment, he also called for people to be thoughtful upon facing diversity.
“That is in order to create a peaceful sense of togetherness,” said the Minister in a statement issued at the Religious Affairs Ministry website today.
The United Development Party (PPP) politician urged people to translate Christmas festivities into a concrete attempt to better understand the very nature of diversity and realize the nobility of human dignity and its importance to build a civilization.
“Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year 2019. Hopefully, we can continue to spread peace to anyone, anywhere, and all the time,” said the Minister.
Meanwhile, during his visit to the Mawar Sharon Church in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan invited Jakarta’s Christian community to celebrate Christmas together with the Jakarta Provincial Government on January 11, 2019, at Ancol.
