Former Generals SBY-Prabowo Meet in Presidential Campaign Meeting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party chairman Susilo “SBY” Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to hold a meeting with presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto today. Strong signs suggest that the former generals will mostly discuss Prabowo’s presidential campaign.

“This meeting was SBY’s initiatives. He invited Prabowo Subianto and coalition party members to his house at the East Mega Kuningan in Central Jakarta,” said Democrat Party spokesman Imelda Sari today, December 21.

Previously reported, the Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno campaign team (BPN) spokesman Dahnil Anzar said that the meeting will mainly listen to SBY’s advises and contemporary strategy.  

According to Dahnil, Prabowo plans to be more of a listener in the meeting as he considers himself SBY’s junior in the political realm. SBY successfully led Indonesia throughout two administrations by winning the 2004 and 2009 presidential election.

This meeting will also counter previous allegations accusing Democrat Party, a coalition party backing Prabowo Subianto, for not being actively involved in the former general’s presidential campaign.
