TEMPO.CO, Madiun - State-owned manufacturing company PT Industri Kereta Api (PT INKA) spokesman Hartono said that 15 out of 250 passenger trains ordered by Bangladesh had been produced. Within the near time, the first delivery will be carried out.
“We will send [the trains] early 2019,” Hartono Sunday, December 16.
Another 235 trains, he continued, are still being produced. After the production completes, it will be sent in stages using a carrier to Bangladesh. The contract value for the procurement of passenger trains for Bangladesh reached Rp700 billion.
Other than producing passenger trains for Bangladesh, Hartono explained, PT INKA also focused on the construction of the ongoing project, including the Light Rail Transit (LRT) of Jabodebek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi) with 31 train sets and 438 trains ordered by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Persero.
PT INKA also expected the procurement project of 75 freight trains for Bangladesh that its tender process was still afoot and the locomotive trains required by Thailand. In addition, the company is also trying to extend the ties with the Philippines regarding the procurement of diesel trains and locomotives.
Another export opportunity, Hartono mentioned, was the participation in the tender of the procurement of 50 locomotives for Thailand and sales of air conditioning or AC train components to Malaysia. Meanwhile, for the domestic market, PT INKA is predicted to produce 68 long-distance electric diesel rail trains (KRDE) ordered by PT KAI.
