Eid Homecoming: Police,Army Personnel to Patrol Unattended Houses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police partnering with Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) are set to increase its patrol to secure unattended houses left by its owners that have traveled to their hometown in the annual Eid al-Fitr homecoming tradition.
“For sure, empty houses are potentially targeted by conventional crimes when its left behind by its owners in the 2018 Eid homecoming. This is what our personnel will focus on,” said Jakarta Metro Police Grand Comm. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono on Sunday, June 10.
Furthermore, Argo reminded people to make sure that they have locked their houses before leaving it unattended. Police went as far to suggest people to install CCTVs at their homes.
He also urged people leaving their houses for their hometown to coordinate with local security personnel, community heads, or neighbors that can be trusted.
Argo also mentioned about the potential fire hazards from unattended houses, which is the reason why police have coordinated its efforts with fire fighters in the ‘Ketupat operation’ that was specifically introduced to secure and monitor activities related to the Eid homecoming.
