TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Two Gadjah Mada University (UGM) engineering faculty lecturers suspected to be anti-state ideology (Pancasila) have been recommended by the university’s academic senate members and professors for deactivation from their structural posts.

“University leaders, academic senates, and the board of professors held a meeting with the two lecturers who allegedly defied the Pancasila (five state ideologies) on Friday, June 8, at the UGM main office,” said UGM spokeswoman Iva Ariani today.

Iva said university leaders had had talks with both lecturers on their views on Pancasila, and that the meeting's results had been forwarded to the university's honorary board (DKU) for further deliberation.

“The recommendations given to the DKU will be a point of consideration for university leaders to decide the steps to take in the future,” said Iva. The two lecturers will be immediately deactivated temporarily from their positions.

Similar cases also happened at the Dipenogoro University, where Professor Suteki was removed from his position as head of Master Program of Law. Suteki was once summoned as an expert witness for the now-disbanded anti-Pancasila group Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia.
