TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Interior Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said during his serving as the inspector of the Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony at his ministry on Monday, October 3, 2016, that there are means from particular groups that are attempting to eliminate the existence of Pancasila as the state ideology.
“There are groups, organizations, and leaders that overtly reject the Pancasila nowadays,” Tjahjo said. He emphasized the people of Indonesia need to take a stand against the people that are trying to replace the Pancasila ideology.
Pancasila is in a susceptible position, Tjahjo said; reflecting on the history of the October 1, 1965 tragedy that forced the establishment for the day of birth of the Pancasila through a Presidential Decree. “This nation is still susceptible to treason from within and from foreign countries intending to split (us),” he added.
The Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony started at 08.00 a.m. Minister Tjahjo led the moment of silence in front of other participants consisting of internal members of the ministry and the Institute of Internal Government Affairs (IPDN).
He underlines Pancasila as the nation’s ideology that is independant, sovereign, and has personal qualities. “If we truly appreciate the principles contained in Pancasila, i’m certain that we will continue on developing togetherness, mutual assistance for the unity of the Republic of Indonesia,” Tjahjo concluded.
