TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The panel of judges at the Corruption Court jailed Setya Novanto for 15 years for his role at the electronic ID card (e-KTP) graft case.
"The defendant is found guilty of conspiring to commit corruption and is sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined Rp500 million," said the head of a panel of five judges, Yanto at the Jakarta Corruption Court in Jakarta, April 24.
The judges` verdict on Setya Novanto was lighter than the prosecutor's claim that had sought a jail term of at least 16 years and a fine of Rp1 billion or six months of detainment.
Setya Novanto had violated corruption laws for receiving a graft of U$7.3 million and a Richard Mille watch worth at US$135,000, said the judge.
