Electricity in Banjarnegara Returns to Normal after Quake

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State power company PLN stated the electricity in Banjarnegara has returned to normal after the 4.4 magnitude earthquake on April 18. Manager of PLN Purwokerto Area Armunanto said all the kilowatt cables and the cable connections on the houses and building affected by the quake has been secured.
“The electricity went back to normal at 13:30 local times,” said Armunanto in a written statement dated Thursday, April 19.

Armunanto said PLN has deployed personnel to sweep the area hit by the quake. From the observation, one power pole in Kertosari village was tilted and two low-voltage cables were loosed, causing a power outage to 65 PLN customers.
Armunanto further explained a day after the quake, PLN deployed 26 personnel of joint team from PLN sub-unit team, Kalibening post guard team, technical service team, and 24-hour maintenance team to secure the cable connectivity and power recovery.
“There is no significant damage in the low-voltage network in general. However, the recovery installment is hampered due to the land condition,” he noted.
The earthquake struck Banjarnegara at the depth of four kilometers and 52 kilometers north of Kebumen, Central Java. As many as 300 houses destroyed and 2,000 people were evacuated.
