TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The supreme court stated could not instantly decide the judicial review filed by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok which had attracted public attention. “The decision [on the judicial review] will be given at least in the next two weeks,” said Suhadi on Thursday, March 15.
The documents for the trial had been completely submitted by Ahok and already numbered and registered by the court’s clerk. The panel of judges has even formed to handle the case. “We’ll then distribute it to the court’s board, and take it to the criminal division,” said Suhadi.
On February 2, Ahok’s lawyer legally requested a judicial review to the Supreme Court through North Jakarta District Court which pronounced his verdict. The judicial review was filed against the decision number 1537/Pid.BlZO16/PN.Jkt.Utr.
The North Jakarta District Court on May 9 sentenced Ahok to two years behind bars for religious blasphemy. Previously, the Jakarta former governor planned to appeal a case review right after the verdict which then canceled.
