Anies Baswedan Responds to Alleged Prostitution in Alexis Hotel

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan responded to Tempo investigative report on the allegedly ongoing prostitution practices at Alexis Hotel. The governor stated that he needs to prepare further steps to follow up on the alleged violation.
“Thanks to Tempo magazine’s investigative report,” said Anies Baswedan at City Hall on Tuesday, January 30.
The January 29th edition of Tempo magazine published a lengthy report entitled “Same Alexis, Different Name.” Tempo assigned the investigative team in the second week of January to report the alleged illegal businesses at the hotel.

The Jakarta administration revoked Alexis Hotel’s business permit since October 31, 2017, due to pieces of evidence that uncovered the fact that the hotel had run an illegal prostitution practice. As it turns out, despite the absence of a legal business permit, the alleged prostitution was still running healthy.
The Tempo team uncovered that behind the reception desk on the third floor of the building, dozens of lady companions (LC) were all sitting on a red sofa. But outside of their main job, these companions can also be paid to striptease with clients and serve a sexual intercourse.
Legal and Corporate Affairs of Alexis Group Lina Novita denied Tempo`s findings. She defends that Alexis Hotel employs the ladies merely as lady companions for visitors in karaoke rooms.
