Man-made islands are seen being constructed for the Jakarta Bay reclamation project.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police`s investigation into an alleged graft case surrounding the Jakarta Bay Reclamation project remains underway. Investigators recently found irregularities in the determination of the taxable value of property (NJOP) of islets C and D.

“There is a difference between the NJOP and the findings in relation to the land price,” Jakarta Metro Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said at his office on Thursday, November 9, without revealing the exact figure.

The irregularities were found after investigators on Wednesday, November 8, questioned three officials of the Jakarta Taxation and Retribution Agency (BPRD).

The NJOP of the two islets was set at Rp3.1 million per square meter, based on an independent study conducted by public assessor office KJPP. The NJOP was then legalized in a decision letter on August 23 by the BPRD.

Meanwhile, the NJOP was previously assumed to reach Rp25 million based on a dividend formula. As the actual NJOP was far lower than the assumption, the police conducted an investigation into the case.

The police have scheduled questionings for Jakarta BPRD head Edi Sumantri and KJPP head Dwi Haryanto next week.
