TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Related to the recent Whatsapp porn-related GIF, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Chairman Susanto asserted that Whatsapp must provide its greatest effort to protect children from pornographic contents.

“Whatsapp, as a corporation must provide its utmost protection, which includes protection against pornographic contents,” said Susanto after holding a meeting with Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Monday, November 6.

Susanto said that KPAI plans to invite Whatsapp managements in an effort to synchronize both party’s perception. KPAI had practiced the similar moves in the past with Twitter and Facebook regarding the protection against pornography.

During the meeting with the Vice President, Susanto urged the government to act assertively and establish a protection system for children against cyber-crime and contents related to pornography and violence.

KPAI reminded the government that children in the current era cannot escape the effects of information and technological advancements, which includes Whatsapp.
