TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi affirmed that regional heads must comply with the new regulation pertaining online app-based taxi through revised Transportation Ministerial Decree (PM) No. 26/2017.
In the revised regulation on people’s transportation with vehicles without fixed route, there are a number of points that are related to the authority of regional administration including tariff establishment, operational areas, and quota.

There are no legal grounds for the regional heads to impose actions outside of the regulation. If they have different thoughts, there will be complications," Budi Karya Sumadi said in Jakartaon Friday, Oct. 20.
He explained that the revised PM No. 26/2017 will be of the immediate effect on November 1. This is intended to protect the safety of the people and taxi industry.
