Jokowi Reject Request for Consultation from KPK Inquiry Committee

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has rejected a request for a consultation from the KPK inquiry committee. He told reporters that it was beyond his authority.
“It’s within the authority of the House of Representatives; it’s the DPR’s case,” Jokowi said today on the sidelines of the Indonesia Business and Development Expo 2017 in Jakarta.
As reported earlier, the KPK inquiry committee members at the House of Representatives (DPR) expressed that they wished to meet President Jokowi to discuss their recommendation. A committee member from the PDIP faction Masinton Pasaribu said that the President’s suggestions were needed.
President Joko Widodo confirmed that every institution should now the limits of its authority. If an issue is within the legislative body authority, the President said he will not meddle in their affairs.
Earlier, Jokowi has repeatedly said that he will not let the KPK be weakened by anyone.
