Reclamation Project Will Not Be Delayed, Says Minister Luhut

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said that he will bring with him the data of the Jakarta Bay reclamation to a meeting at the Presidential Palace today. He assured that the government will not delay the project’s execution.
“We will not delay it, if there is a problem then please show me where the problem is,” said Luhut on Tuesday, July 11.

He urges the people that are against the reclamation project to provide proof of any problematic issues contained in the project.
Luhut plans to report on the results of the studies he has conducted so far through an open discussion meeting. “No need to be a nuisance in public,” said Luhut.
The Maritime Affairs Ministry eyes July as the deadline to release the interim study report on the Jakarta Bay reclamation project. Luhut claims that he already invited several people who are against the project but has also contributed to the discussion in major meetings related to the reclamation project.

Jakarta Deputy Governor-elect, Sandiaga Uno, said that himself and Jakarta Governor-elect, Anies Baswedan would discuss about the environment assessment of reclaimed islands that are located at the North Jakarta Bay of the reclamation project. This discussion will take place as soon as the pair officially take office on October.
