TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested 11 online gambling suspects at a house in Teluknaga Cluster, Tangerang at 00:46 on April 26. Sr. Comr. Wira Satya, the head of the Metropolitan Police's Directorate of General Criminal Investigation, said the arrest was the result of a 20-day investigation that began on April 2.
"Investigators managed to find an online gambling website called cuaca77, which contained several online gambling games," Wira said during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya on Tuesday, April 30.
The Cuaca77 online gambling site has been operating for 4 months and has made Rp10 billion in profits. Now the website has been blocked by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs and is no longer accessible.
The police arrested 11 suspects and confiscated a number of evidence, including six computer monitors, three CPU units, nine laptops, 27 cell phones, and others.
The suspects are accused of violating several articles on information transactions and electronic transactions, as well as the crime of money laundering. They face prison sentences of up to 20 years.
