TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, dismissed an allegation made by the Save Jakarta Bay Coalition saying that the government deliberately concealed the study conducted by the Jakarta Bay Reclamation Joint Committee. Luhut claimed that the study on the reclamation project is not yet ready to be published.
"I have explained that the reclamation study isn't finished yet, and it's still being discussed by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), South Korea, and Netherland," Luhut said in Jakarta on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
Rayhan Dudayev from the Indonesian Center for Environmental Law (ICEL), who represents the coalition, revealed that the study presented by the Coordinating Maritime Affairs Ministry was just a presentation containing brief recommendations related to the reclamation project without elaborating a comprehensive study.
Luhut then asked the organization alleging that the government has deliberately concealed the study to come and meet him.
"We have nothing to hide. Those who alleged that the government is hiding [the study], come to me. Don't make baseless allegation," Luhut said.
Ridwan Djamaluddin, Ministry's deputy of infrastructure and human resources, claimed that the presentation during the Public Information Commission hearing last week was the actual result.
"That's all we have now. We will announce new developments. We don't have to wait for the Public Information Commission hearing on April 10, 2017," Ridwan said.
