TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Depok National Narcotics Agency's (BNN) Head Ajun Sr. Com. Hesti Cahyasari said that gorilla tobacco has gained pupolarity in Depok.

BNN is now targetting at one of gorilla tobacco’s dealers who has started an operation in Depok.

"The spread of gorilla tobacco has reached Depok," Hesti said on Sunday (02/05). He added that this first class narcotic spreads online and through social media.

Hesti stated that the police is investigating reports from the people on the spread of gorilla tobacco in Depok. The target market of this class of narcotics is students, he added. Previously, the police arrested a dealer of this narcotic, who is a 17-year-old student and carried more than three grams of this narcotic.

Based on his records, the spread of narcotics and drugs in Depok is quite high. There have been 353 cases with 432 suspects. In the past three months, BNN has arrested 15 dealers of marijuana and meth.

Hesti claimed that the high number of universities in Depok attacts drug dealers.

To make matters worse, a survey released by Indonesia University and BNN Depok reveals that the number of drug-addict students is pretty high.

"Out of 100 students, 6 of them consume drugs on a regular basis," he said.
