TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo claimed that the government is ready to lower fuel price, both for Premium fuel and Solar (subsidized diesel fuel). Jokowi said that Premium fuel price, currently tagged at Rp 7,600 per liter, will be reduced to Rp 6,400 or Rp. 6,500 per liter.
Jokowi explained that the price reduction is the result of the decreasing world crude price, and denied any rumors saying that the reduction was laden with political interests. "[...] It's purely economic decision," he said.
Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil, said that the government is planning to announce the price reduction within the week. "If global oil price is stable, we do not need to change the price of subsidized fuel," said Sofyan.
