TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The prices of subsidized fuels, Pertalite and Solar, reportedly will increase tomorrow, September 1. Ahead of the hike, Pertamina recorded a slight increase in subsidized fuel consumption.
Pertamina Patra Niaga corporate secretary Irto Ginting said that subsidized fuel sales volume increased by one to two percent of the daily average. Nevertheless, Irto said, the state-owned oil and gas company is committed to maintaining fuel supplies.
"Therefore, we hope that consumers can be efficient in using fuel, and buy according to their needs," said Irto.
There have been rumors that subsidized fuel prices will rise as signaled by a number of government policies. One of them is the announcement of additional budget disbursement for social support with a total value of Rp12.4 trillion, which is aimed at the poor and vulnerable.
Addressing the rumors, Irto stated that Pertamina is still waiting for the government's policy. At the official web page of MyPertamina, the price of Pertalite for the period of August 3 to 31 is still normal at Rp7,650 per liter.
Meanwhile, Irto stated that the number of vehicles registered on the MyPertamina app, which serves to ensure that subsidized fuel is bought by those who are eligible for it, continues to grow and had reached more than 1 million vehicles as of Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
