TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Wage Council has set the 2014 decent living standards (KHL) at Rp 2,538,174, around 10 percent higher from the Rp 1.9 million set in 2013.
Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Agency Chief Priyono, said that the meeting to determine the KHL was tough. The meeting started at 13:00 Western Indonesia Time and ended at 22:00. "The meeting was delayed several times," he said on Thursday, November 6, 2014.
There were three items that became subjects of debate between workers and businesses. Those three items are coffee, instant noodle and tabloid. The workers requested that the three items should be added in the KHL, and after a long debate, all parties agreed.
After determining the KHL, the next agenda was deciding the minimum wage (UMP) recommendation that will be given to Jakarta Acting Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama in a meeting next Wednesday, November 12, 2014. "If [the recommendation] is approved, then the UMP will be announced to the public," he said.
