TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President of the Labor Party Said Iqbal commented on the numerous reports concerning payment of religious allowance received by the Ministry of Manpower.
Iqbal asserted that the repeating occurrences need to be followed up so that companies will not treat their employees arbitrarily.
"Revoke the permit of the company that did not pay religious allowance and announces it in mass media, names of the company," Iqbal said on Monday, April 24, 2023.
Iqbal said that there are several reasons that often emerged in the event a company fails to pay religious allowance to its employees, one of which is the regulation on providing religious allowance one week prior to Eid Al-Fitr.
Iqbal also said that there are many companies who are intentionally messing with religious allowance payments.
"If the religious allowance is provided D-7, laborers that did not receive their allowance cannot do much because many of them have entered the Eid holiday," Iqbal said.
Therefore, Iqbal suggested that religious allowance be provided thirty days before Eid Al-Fitr to give time for laborers who have not received a religious allowance to take action.
