TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:During the last three years, investment in Indonesia has increased by only three to four percent per year, according to Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti the Coordinating Minister for the Economy. “Ideally,” said the minister today (5/3), after officially opening the new Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) building, “There should be an investment increase of seven percent each year.” Dorodjatun said he expected that there would be increasing interest in investing in Indonesia since market distortions, such intervention in the market, have been reduced. He went on to say that, since 1998, the government has decreased its intervention in the market in order to reduce market distortion. (Nunuy Nurhayati-Tempo News Room)
