TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy House Speaker, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said the House of Representatives (DPR) and the government have agreed to accommodate the Constitutional Court (MK) decision in the General Elections Commission (KPU) Regulation in the 2024 regional election.
Dasco said DPR has coordinated with the Minister of Home Affairs to comply with MK’s ruling. "So, the consultation on Monday [August 26] will not change anything,” said Dasco at the DPR Building, on Friday, August 23, 2024.
2. Indonesian Immigration Detains 2 Suspects of Human Smuggling to Australia
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Immigration arrested two people suspected of being involved in human smuggling to Australia. The two, Indonesian citizens with the initials DH and MA, were immediately detained and named as suspects.
Immigration is also investigating the involvement of an Italian citizen, GA, Meanwhile, DH and MA are being held at the Class I State Detention Center in Central Jakarta. They are charged with Article 120 of Immigration Law with a maximum of 15 years in prison and a Rp1.5 billion fine.
