TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Director of Indonesian railways company PT KAI Didiek Hartantyo said there will be additional trips on the Whoosh high-speed train during the 2024 Eid homecoming period.

"For Eid homecoming this year, there will be 52 Whoosh trips every day," Didiek said during a meeting with Commission VI of DPR on Wednesday

The additional Whoosh schedule is available from April 3 to April 28, 2024. Didiek explained that Whoosh will still apply the dynamic pricing scheme for the additional trips. The dynamic pricing scheme is designed to offer more affordable prices for certain travel periods. Several factors influence the Whoosh ticket fares, including peak or off-peak hours, high season or low season, and weekdays or weekends.

"The highest fare for the Executive class is Rp650,000, the Business class is Rp450,000, and the Economy class is Rp300,000," he said.

Before the Eid homecoming period this year, PT KCIC had increased the number of Whoosh high-speed train trips to 44 per day to accommodate the rising number of passengers.

KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti said the average of Whoosh's daily passengers saw a 15 percent increase in February compared to the previous month. For weekdays, said Emir, the volume of passengers reaches around 15,000 per day, while on weekends, the volume of passengers increases to 20,000 per day.

Emir explained that of the total 44 trips, 40 are regular trips, while the rest are additional trips for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as on national holidays and joint leave.

"With the addition of these trips, Whoosh's travel headway becomes an average of once every 40 minutes, so that people have the flexibility to choose the schedule they want," Emir said in an official statement quoted on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
