TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and his wife are planning to exercise their voting rights in the 2024 General Elections in Depok City, West Java, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

"Vice President Amin and Mrs. Wury will vote in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, around 9 a.m. at Polling Station 33, Arcadia Mediterania Park," said Masduki Baidlowi, Amin's spokesperson, in a statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Baidlowi remarked that Amin and Wury would exercise their voting rights to choose their preferred candidates for president and vice president, as well as legislators.

He extended the vice president's call for Indonesians to take part in ensuring the smooth transfer of power in the country by exercising their rights to vote at polling stations.

"The vice president called on people, especially those from younger generations, to vote. It should be noted that youths account for around 52 percent of the total number of registered voters in the elections, meaning 106 million voters are under 40 years of age," Baidlowi stated.

In the name of youth spirit, he said that Amin encouraged all eligible voters to participate in the upcoming elections in the hopes of bringing the country closer to the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.

"People can demonstrate their concrete support by voting at polling stations," he emphasized.

Amin emphasized that the voice of every individual matters in a democracy, Baidlowi said.

"Votes in general elections will not merely determine the nation's next leaders, as they will also guide Indonesia in deciding the direction of its policies," he concluded.
