TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government through the Transportation Ministry and state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) signed a public service obligation (PSO) agreement for the LRT Jabodebek worth nearly Rp120 billion in 2023.
The signing of the PSO for the implementation of the integrated mass transit system connecting Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi was conducted by Railways Director General Risal Wasal and KAI Director Didiek Hartantyo at Halim LRT station on Thursday, December 7.
Risal Wasal said this reflected the government's commitment to encourage the public to switch from private vehicles to public transport in a bid to reduce traffic congestion.
“For LRT Jabodebek alone, we have allocated the public service obligations (PSO) budget at Rp119,793,951,000 (almost Rp120 billion) in 2023,” he said.
This PSO, he said, was also a concrete manifestation of the government's presence in the community through affordable train services.
Meanwhile, Didiek Hartantyo emphasized KAI's commitment to implement this PSO in the best possible way. “We are ready to execute the mandate given by the Transportation Ministry, in this case, the Directorate General of Railways, according to the contract for the LRT Jabodebek,” he said.
KAI would also continue to improve facilities and other services through coordination and cooperation with related parties. “KAI will continue to support the government in improving services to the community,” Didiek added.
Since October 22, 2023, LRT Jabodebek has been offering a promotional fare of a minimum of Rp3,000 and a maximum of Rp10,000, which is valid every day, including national holidays.
