U-17 World Cup 2023 Electricity Preparation, PLN to Deploy 240 Personnel

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java branch of the National Electricity Company (PLN) will deploy 240 personnel to safeguard the electricity during the U-17 World Cup in the region. The personnel consists of PLN employees and outsourcing.

Company Senior Manager for Communication and General Affairs Joko Hadi Widayat stated that the PLN has prepared 15 supporting gears including seven units of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), four units of Mobile Electrical Substation Units (UGB), and four sets of generators. These supporting gears are intended to become the emergency source of electricity in case of a sudden power outage.

"Supporting vehicles consists of 81 units, including 1 unit of crane, 64 units of technical service cars, and 16 units of technical service motorcycles with an adequate number of emergency spare materials," Joko said on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Additionally, PLN is preparing 15 posts in anticipation of electricity issues during the U-17 World Cup 2023 in West Java, including those for internet connections, transmission, and power supplies.

Joko also explained that the electricity system in the West Java branch of PLN is secure with electrical power up to 14,044 MW and the highest peak load at around 8,416 MW with a reserve margin of 40 percent.

It has been confirmed that Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung is one of the four venues to host the U-17 World Cup 2023 in Indonesia. There will be 14 matches held in this stadium, consisting of 12 elimination round matches and 2 round of 16 matches.

In West Java, there are 11 supporting venues of the U-17 World Cup, including the main venue at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium and five training fields at Arcamanik Stadium, Unpad Stadium, IPDN Stadium, Sabuga ITB Stadium, and Sidolig Stadium. The rest are the five hotels used to house the athletes and World Cup officials.
