TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian electricity company or PT PLN supports the 2024 Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) in strengthening collaboration to develop the electric vehicle ecosystem. PLN is involved for the third time in the electric vehicle exhibition which will be held from April 30 to May 5, 2024, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
"The EV infrastructure is currently sufficient, where we can see EV travelers this year increasing 5 times from the previous year," said PLN Retail and Commerce Director Edi Srimulyanti in a written statement, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Edi explained that PLN has operated at least 1,299 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), 9,800 Public Electric Charging Stations (SPLU), and 1,900 Public Electric Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU).
"God willing, this year we will add another 2,000 SPKLU which we will install on electricity poles, both on iron poles and concrete poles," he said.
Furthermore, Edi revealed that PLN continues to promote the advantages of electric vehicles compared to fuel-based vehicles to the public. PLN, Edi went on, is also collaborating with the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo) in realizing this goal.
The Head of Periklindo, Moeldoko, hopes that PEVS 2024 will further broaden people's understanding of electric vehicles. He said the event would introduce 82 electric vehicle brands.
Meanwhile, Director of Dyandra Promosindo, Daswar Marpaung, predicts that this year's PEVS will pioneer the acceleration of electric vehicles in Indonesia.
“Hopefully, this exhibition can be used as a promotional, educational, and business meeting for electric vehicle industry players," he said.
