TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that scorching hot weather continued to hit several regions of Indonesia on Tuesday, Oct. 10 as the air temperature reached between 35 and 39 degrees Celsius.

In its Instagram post, the agency disclosed a list of areas with their daily maximum temperatures on Oct. 9-10 at 10 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

The highest temperature was recorded in West Java, reaching 38.7 degrees Celsius. Five other meteorological stations recorded the lowest temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius. These stations are located in West Papua, Tangerang, Perak 1, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II, and Tanjung Harapan.

The agency also reported that several regions experienced low rainfall, which is even for more than 60 days. Almost all of Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara fall into this category, meaning they had no rain for more than 60 days.

A similar situation also occurred in small parts of southern Sumatra, Southern Kalimantan, and Southern Sulawesi.

BMKG further noted that several regions in southern Sumatra even experienced a prolonged rainless period of between 31 and 60 days. In addition, a small number of regions on the islands of Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara also experienced a dry spell during this period.
