BMKG Predicts West Java to See 5 Rainy Days This Weekend

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java Climatology Station of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that the province will experience rain showers for five days this week, October 9 to 15, 2023, with moderate to heavy intensity rain and possible lightning and strong winds on a local scale within a short duration in some areas.
Head of the West Java BMKG Climatology Station, Rakhmat Prasetia, said the province was entering the rainy season. “Starting from the second ten days of October until December 2023,” he said in a written statement, October 8, 2023.
On Monday, rain may drench Bandung, Garut, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency, and Bogor Regency. On Tuesday, Bogor City, Bogor Regency, and Sukabumi Regency will also be rainy.
On Wednesday, rain is forecast to be widespread, covering Bogor City, Bogor Regency, Sukabumi Regency, Cianjur, Depok City, Bandung Regency, Bandung City, West Bandung Regency, and Cimahi City or Greater Bandung, as well as other areas including Sumedang, Majalengka, Kuningan, Cirebon Regency and City, Bekasi Regency, Bekasi City, and Karawang.
On Thursday, rain chances were forecast for Bekasi Regency, Karawang, Bogor Regency, and Bogor City. On Saturday, rain chances were forecast for Bogor Regency, Bogor City, Sukabumi Regency, Subang, and Cianjur. There would be no rain on Friday and Sunday.
BMKG hoped that the community and related agencies would mitigate the effects of the lingering drought while preparing conditions for the rainy season. The agency also warned of potential disasters that usually occur during the transition season, such as heavy rains, tornadoes, and hail.
