Jokowi Taps Budi Arie Setiadi as Kominfo Minister Replacing Johnny G. Plate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has tapped Budi Arie Setiadi as the Communications and Information or Kominfo Minister, replacing Johnny G. Plate, and other deputy ministers at Jakarta State Palace today, July 17, 2023.

Deputy ministers inaugurated today are Nezar Patria as Kominfo Deputy Minister, Paiman Raharjo as Village Deputy Minister, Rosan Roeslani as SOE Deputy Minister, Pahala Mansury as Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister, and Saiful Rahmat as Religious Affairs Deputy Minister.

Budi Arie was previously sworn in as Deputy Minister of Village, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration on October 25, 2019. He is renowned as a loyalist of Jokowi and is a chairperson of Jokowi’s most prominent supporter group Projo.

Budi Arie is inaugurated as Kominfo Minister as a substitute for Johnny G. Plate who is now a suspect in the corruption case of the construction of the Kominfo Ministry’s Base Transceivers Station (BTS) project.

President Jokowi also inaugurated two new members of the Presidential Advisory Board (Wantimpres) today. They are Djan Faridz and Gandi Sulistiyanto.
