TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Public Prosecutors asked West Jakarta District Court’s panel of judges to sentence Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra to death over allegedly selling crystal methamphetamine from evidence confiscated by the West Sumatra Resort Police.

“[We demand the court to] sentence the defendant Teddy Minahasa Putra bin Haji Abu Bakar with the death penalty and keep him in custody,” said the Public Prosecutors at the West Jakarta District Court, on Monday, March 27, 2023.

The high-ranking police officer is considered guilty as referred to in Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

The evidence confiscated from the defendant included letters, a CCTV decoder, a cellphone unit, a flash drive containing a recording of a press conference at the Bukittinggi Police Station on June 14, 2022, as well as blood, urine, and hair examination results. No drugs were confiscated from Teddy.

Teddy Minahasa allegedly ordered the former Bukittinggi Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police Dody Prawiranegara to set aside 10 kilograms of methamphetamine from the total of 41.4 kilograms of drugs confiscated by the Bukittinggi Police in May 2022. He also asked Linda Pujiastuti or Anita Cepu to find buyers.
