Authorities Arrest Police Member Over Crystal Meth Possession

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Investigators at the Jakarta Metro Police directorate of drug investigation arrested a middle-ranking police officer, Senior Commissioner Yulius Bambang Karyanto, on suspicion of drug abuse.
"Yes, correct," the Jakarta Police director of drug investigation Senior Commissioner Mukti Juharsa confirmed on Saturday, Jan. 7, as quoted from Antara.
The authorities confiscated pieces of evidence of two clips of crystal methamphetamine. "The evidence is 0.5 gram and 0.6 gram [of crystal meth]. So, there are two pieces of evidence" said Mukti.
He explained the arrest against Sr. Commissioner Yulius Bambang Karyanto was done on Friday afternoon, Jan. 6, at a hotel in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
During the arrest, Yulius was in a hotel room with a woman. Both were then taken to the Jakarta Metro Police HQ for an examination.
Mukti said the investigators have 3x24 hours to determine the status of Yulius.
