TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. TNI Suharyanto handed over Rp500 million for landslide victims in Sirna Sari, Empang Village, South Bogor District, Bogor, West Java.

The ready-to-use fund was given symbolically to Bogor Deputy Mayor Dedie A. Rachim at the evacuation site, which is the mosque of State Junior High School 9, Wednesday, March 15.

Suharyanto said that his party would try its best to find the four people who were still missing. "Hopefully within a few days we can find them," he said on Thursday, March 16.

According to Suharyanto, the process of searching, helping, and evacuating must be a top priority in handling the disaster. BNPB will continue to support search efforts until the victims are found.

It is hoped that the ready-to-use fund from the central government can be used to accelerate the process of searching, helping, and evacuating the four residents who are still buried in avalanche materials.

In addition to the budget, he said that the BNPB also provided logistical support and equipment in the form of a refugee tent, 250 mattresses, 250 blankets, 100 packages of nine basic necessities, and 100 packages of hygiene kits.

High-intensity rain in the city of Bogor on Tuesday, March 14, triggered a landslide that killed two people. A cliff, 12- meters high and 6 meters wide fell on residents' houses and public buildings in Sirna Sari Village, Empang Village, South Bogor District.

The Bogor City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that six houses and a place of worship were buried under landslide materials. Seventeen people were also buried by the rubble. Eleven were found alive while two died and four other people were in search.

The landslide also affected the Bogor-Sukabumi railway line, with 15 meters of the tracks cut off and causing delays.

As of Thursday, the Bogor City BPBD team, the National Search and Rescue Agency, TNI, Police, Fire Department, disaster relief volunteers as well as local residents continued to search for victims that have not been found.

The search and rescue efforts were challenged by the disaster's location, which is difficult to reach and situated on a cliff and on the outskirts of the Cisadane River.
